Bakelite Phenolic resins Powder are synthetic polymers formed as condensation products of phenols and aldehydes. This step-growth polymerization reaction can be either acid- or base-catalyzed. In acid, the reaction forms novolac resins. These resins require a curing agent - often hexamethylenetetramine or hexa. They are not heat-sensitive. In alkaline solution, the polymerization reaction produces resole resins. These resins are sensitive to heat and acids, do not require curing agents, and have relatively short shelf lives.
Bakelite Phenolic Resin Powder for friction materials are are produced by reacting formaldehyde with phenol under acid conditions with low free phenol and narrow MWD(Molecular weight distribution ).It is novolac resin and milled into powder and re-mixed with Hexa,it is recommended for the production of friction materials(disk pads, brake linings and clutch facings) required improved stability at high temperature and low wear, reduced noise and judder.
